Electrolytic Refining
From World Leader in Underground Blast Design Software
The process of refining metals by casting into anodes which are placed in an electrolyte consisting usually of a salt of the same metal dissolved in water, and depositing on a cathode by passing an electric current into the system; similarly, by using an electrically inert anode, and depositing the metal on the cathode from a purified solution of a salt of the metal.
